The Fruit of Masonic Errors
I wish to call to the attention of the readers of The Scholasticum Blog, a current, very pervasive, false spirit afoot among Bloggers, which is the fruit of the Masonic errors of freespeach and freethinking, which the very nature of the medium of blogging is easily given to.
The error of free speech, holds that everyone has a right to publish or say or write whatever he desires to write or publish or say.
The error of freethinking, which is the principle error, and the mother of the error of free speech, holds that everyone has a right to think, hold, and opine whatever opinions, thoughts, or tenets they want to.
The specific threat these 2 errors are having, as regards Catholics on the Internet, is that there are a great number of individuals, unlettered, ignorant, too lazy to go to a libray, open a book, study at a university, read a saint, submit to the judgment of the Church, to the Doctors of the Church, to the Fathers of the Church, and/or to the Saints of the Church,
But who at the same time consider themselves able, capable, and in their right, to write and publish blogs, which promote their own opinions, free thoughts, and rail against all that is true, which is not in harmony with their freethinking.
This danger is especially true among those Blogs which are partisans of groups, and which use as a rule of truth, what is politically correct. This is especially true among so-called Traditional Catholics.
I would point out that anyone who does not establish his opinion in matters religious upon Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, the Fathers, the Doctors, the Saints, and official Documents of the Church, is acting like a protestant and following in the footsteps of the Arch-Heretic Father Martin Luther, who always defended his novelties by saying that the Fathers taught the same thing, but never citing the Fathers (be cause he couldn't) to prove his claims.
I would add, that these individuals manifest their false and diabolical spirit by insulting those who offer corrections, deleting comments which cite contrary proofs, and inventing their own cliques of friends who consistently urge them on to these evils by flattery, and a mutual communion in ignorance, calumny, libel, arrogance, pride and deceit of every species.
A word to the wise!

I believe that we can see condemned, by way of recollection of a past condemnation, this pernicious error in Benedict XIV's encyclical, A quo primum, where that august pontiff writes:
"We esteem the glorious memory of Polish martyrs, confessors, virgins and holy men; their exemplary lives are recorded in the holy annals of the Church. We also recall the many successful councils and synods which gloriously defeated the Lutherans who tried tenaciously, using a variety of methods, to establish a foothold and welcome in this kingdom. At that time indeed the great council of Piotrkow met under Our great predecessor and fellow citizen Gregory XIII, with prelate Lippomano, bishop of Verona and Apostolic nuncio, as its president. To the great glory of God it prohibited the principle of freedom of conscience; adherents of this principle were seeking to introduce and establish it in Poland."
Dear Br. Alexis Bugnolo,
You had said this on another blog; "heresy requires as a sin an interior direct contradiction of a doctrine"
I asked a question that was never answered...I assume maybe you never saw it...It was "Can you provide documentation in support of the above statement? What is the source?
How can anyone ever know someones interior disposition?
Thanks,
Trad1996
Dear Trad 1996,
No I did not see it: infact I even forgot to set this blog up to let me know about comments, and so did not see your comment here until Aug. 22!
As to documentation, see any manual of moral theology, which explains that for a sin to be imputable, there must be an interior act of consent; for sins in the intellect, there also must be an act of interior assent.
We cannot know another's interior disposition; however, some exeternal acts are so manifestly disordered from truth and virtue, that non but the insane can be presumed innocent in their commission. Thus human courts convict a host of criminals without any need to determin the interior culpability, and they do this justly and reasonably.
The same goes for heresy as a sin; the Church has had since the beginning a system of trial for heresy, and just as you and I reading a report can speculate as to the guilt or innocence of someone caugt in the act, by the police or others, nevertheless it would be unreasonable to demand anything until the man got his day in court, so in heresy, whatsoever the external evidence, let it be put to the judgement of those who rule the Church in the Name of Jesus Christ, and let the man have his day in court.
Prior to that, if we are capable, we should remonstrate with the individual, in private, and then with others, if necessary, to either clarify what they meant, removed the scandal, or bring them back to the truth.
